Alumium frame, bespoke pre-fabrication
The Guardian Warm Roof is based around a lightweight, precision-engineered aluminium structure with excellent thermal performance and an integrated ventilation system that prevents condensation, ensuring a dry, problem-free environment.
Unlike timber frames that may warp or rot, Guardian's system offers superior stability, aesthetics, and longevity.
The frame is fabricated at the factory, tailor-made to the measurements and specifications of your roof. The whole structure is factory-assembled and carefully inspected to guarantee a precise fit, then prior to delivery it's dissembled and each component labelled. This ensures there are no on-site supply snags.
Watertight, breathable layer
Marine-grade plywood is fixed to the aluminium frame followed by a specialised, high-performance breathable waterproof membrane, often referred to as breather felt. This felt ensures the roof is entirely watertight and weatherproof on the very first day of installation.
The roof is then finished with your choice of roofing - either galvanised and coated Metrotile shingles, or Guardian's own synthetic 'Armour Slate'.
Constant ventilation is attained with natural airflow beneath the tiles in at the eaves and out from under the engineered ridge.
Insulation
Three layers of high-performance rigid insulation board (125mm thick) are used between the plywood and plasterboard, with an additional 25mm between frame braces.
The Guardian Warm Roof has been independently tested by The Building Research Establishment (BRE) which certifies that the U-value achieved by the standard Warm Roof system is 0.15 W/m²K or better. Certification from reputable bodies like the Building Research Establishment (BRE) provides reassurance that these standards are met, helping create more energy-efficient living spaces.
Inside
Normally a plasterboard ceiling is installed for a perfect finish that truly integrates with the rest of your home and with the options of down-lighting.
